Edward Payson Tremper Sr. was born Feb. 16, 1860 in Fulton, Illinois.
In 1902, Edward Tremper Sr., co-owner of Osborne, Tremper & Co., Inc. title company in Seattle, purchased a tract of land in Yarrow Point and planted imported holly stock from England.
Osborne, Tremper & Co became the Seattle Trust & Title Company, founded by his brother Henry in 1911.
By the 1920s, Edward Tremper owned the largest holly farm in the United States on Yarrow Point.
